Job summary

Catholic Charities-Dept For Persons With Disabilities (DPD) is seeking a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in group homes in New Jersey. The role focuses on health, safety and residents’ welfare, with direct care tasks and documentation.

Shifts include Saturdays and Sundays 7:00am - 3:00pm, 16 hours per week, with part-time compensation.

Qualifications

• Be part of a team focused on residents’ health, safety and welfare.
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.
• HS diploma or equivalent is required.
• A valid (non-provisional) driver’s license is required.
• Ability to meet CPR/First Aid and emergency evacuation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist and supervise residents in personal care, cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers and residents.
• Drive residents to/from day programs using agency vehicles.
• Document daily services provided.

Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Group Homes.

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday).

Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

Hours: Part Time-Shift: 16 hours per week, (Saturday and Sunday 7:00am - 3:00pm)

What's the role of a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• A Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community-based activities
