Job summary

The New York Foundling in New York, NY seeks a dedicated caregiver to support individuals with developmental disabilities in residential settings. You will supervise, assist with daily living activities, monitor health and safety, and advocate for coordinated care with clinical staff.

Responsibilities include documenting progress, maintaining certifications, and assisting with meals and transport to activities.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
AMAP, SCIP, CPR, and First Aid certifications preferred.
Valid NY/NJ/CT/PA driver’s license with 6 points or less.
Experience with adults who have developmental disabilities.
Strong commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

Ensure supervision, health and safety of individuals; implement plan of protective oversight.
Advocate for individuals in the community (medical, church, recreation).
Ensure care plans are implemented and medications administered as prescribed.
Assist in daily living skills (hygiene, cooking, housekeeping, laundry, shopping).
Maintain facility in compliance with OPWDD and COA standards.
Support in learning and skills training, including fire safety.
Complete daily progress notes and logs; maintain certifications (CPR/First Aid, SCIP, AMAP).
Provide positive atmosphere and observe/report behavioral changes; cooperate with clinical staff.
Assist in meals planning and preparation; clean and maintain residential units.
