Job summary

Abound Health is actively hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide compassionate caregiving and daily living support for individuals with IDD in Cherokee, NC. DSPs help with ADLs, community participation, and behavioral support while promoting independence.

The role offers meaningful, growth‑oriented work in a supportive team environment. Starting pay ranges from $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, with weekly pay and paid onboarding.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Valid driver’s license, current automotive insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass criminal background check, driving record, and healthcare registry checks.
• Willigness to address personal care needs when necessary.
• Lifting may be required, depending on client needs.

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships and support individuals in achieving personal goals.
• Assist with daily living activities such as meal preparation, hygiene, and household tasks.
• Support individuals in community participation, employment, and social activities.
• Use adaptive tools to aid learning and facilitate communication.
• Encourage independence and help individuals develop new skills.
• Monitor health and safety while maintaining a supportive environment.
• Communicate with Abound team members, families, and external parties (case managers, etc.) as needed.
• Complete documentation and maintaining schedules.
• Complete ongoing training and professional development.
