Job summary

Abound Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide caregiving and daily living support for individuals with IDD in Selma, NC. The role emphasizes helping clients live independently and participate in the community, with hands-on activities, behavioral support, and relationship-building.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma/GED.
• Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass criminal record, driving record, and healthcare registry checks.
• Comfortable supporting shy individuals and building rapport.
• Ability to drive for community outings (required).

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships and support individuals in achieving personal goals.
• Assist with daily living activities such as meal preparation, hygiene, and household tasks.
• Support individuals in community participation, employment, and social activities.
• Use adaptive tools to aid learning and facilitate communication.
• Encourage independence and help individuals develop new skills.
• Monitor health and safety while maintaining a supportive environment.
• Communicate with Abound team members, families, and external parties (case managers, etc.).
• Complete documentation and maintain schedules.
• Complete ongoing training and professional development.
