Connexion West is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Therapist to join our team in providing therapeutic services for our Substance Use Disorder programs (IOP, OP, PHP). The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting individual and group therapy sessions, developing and implementing treatment plans, and supporting clients in their recovery journeys. The Primary Therapist will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care to individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients’ needs, strengths, and challenges related to substance use and mental health.
- Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, outlining goals and strategies for progress in recovery.
- Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions focused on recovery, coping strategies, and life skills enhancement.
- Monitor clients’ progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on feedback and observed outcomes.
- Provide crisis intervention and support as needed, ensuring client safety and well-being.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, treatment plans, and any changes in status in compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with other clinical staff, support personnel, and community resources to create a holistic and coordinated approach to client care.
- Educate clients and their families about substance use disorders, recovery processes, and available resources.
- Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Psychology, or related field PREFERRED

- Licenses/Certifications:
- Current state licensure as an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), or equivalent.
- Additional certifications related to substance use treatment (e.g., CADC, NCAC, or other relevant credentials) preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in the field of substance use, mental health, or related therapeutic settings.
- Experience in the IOP, OP, and PHP settings is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical assessment and therapy skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to engage clients compassionately and effectively.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in substance use treatment and recovery.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation.
