Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to work directly with individuals and groups to provide evaluation, diagnosis, intervention and treatment services for patients with substance misuse or substance-related health conditions. This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
  • Conducts intake, screening, and assessment of biological, psychological, and social factors related to substance misuse and substance use disorders. Provides recommendations for evidence-based interventions and treatment.
  • Collaborates with patient, family, key stakeholders and clinical treatment team to develop an individualized care plan.
  • Conducts individual, family and group education, counseling and psychotherapy sessions.
  • Provides crisis assessments and/or interventions, which include responding to emergency requests from individuals and/or agencies; collaborating with community agencies; developing and implementing intervention plans; determining the need for referral for psychiatric medication evaluation; and arranging for appropriate care and services.
  • Provides case management to address identified needs for medical services, mental health care, housing, employment, child care, social support and other related services.
  • Prepares clinical documentation, reports, and/or correspondence including intake packets, treatment plans, progress notes, treatment reviews, transition/discharge plans, court documents, progress reports for collateral parties, mandated reporting, drug screening and testing, clinical charts, and other related paperwork.
  • Assists families and clients with supports through interpretive services.
  • Attends professional trainings for knowledge of best-practices and continuing education credits required to acquire and maintain professional certification and licensure.
  • Participates in clinical supervision as required by regulatory agents, in accordance with policy.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires Bachelor’s degree
  • Over two years and up to and including four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
  • Licensed Addiction Counselor.
  • Licensed Professional Counselor
  • Certified Addiction Counselor, preferred or eligible within three years of employment
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
