Job description

Warren State Hospital is on the lookout for a Drug & Alcohol Treatment Specialist 2 to conduct assessments and provide counseling for individuals facing drug and alcohol challenges. Your skills will be essential in guiding individuals through their recovery journey, ensuring they receive the support they need. In this role, you will conduct assessment procedures and provide counseling related to alcohol and drug issues for a designated group of patients. This will be done under supervision or in collaboration with other professionals, while also contributing to treatment planning, staff training, and quality assurance initiatives associated with the treatment of alcohol and drug addiction. Your responsibilities will include evaluating and counseling patients facing alcohol and drug challenges, working closely with a selected caseload of individuals with mental health issues. You will also play a key role in developing treatment plans, educating staff, and ensuring quality assurance in the context of substance abuse treatment.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Free parking is available.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of para-professional and one year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and certification by the PA Chemical Abuse Certification Board as a "Certified Addictions Counselor"; or
  • One year of experience as a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 1; or
  • Two years of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and a bachelor's degree that includes 18 credits in the behavioral sciences; or
  • One year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting and a master's degree with major coursework in addictions science, psychology or social work; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 18 college credits in the behavioral sciences.

Other Requirements:

Legal Requirement:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
