Position: Drives Technician

Shermco Industries, accredited by NETA, is seeking candidates with experience or aptitude in low and medium voltage variable frequency drives and soft starts. Ideal candidates are factory-trained and certified by major manufacturers for repair of drive systems. This role is highly technical, hands-on, requiring troubleshooting, critical thinking, and attention to preventative maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-year Electrical Technical degree or higher, or equivalent experience
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to work safely around high voltage
  • Customer service skills and professionalism

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with other NETA technicians on various equipment
  • Start-up, commissioning, maintenance, installation, and repair of VFD systems (brands include Allen Bradley, ABB, Siemens, etc.)
  • Communicate with customers regarding troubleshooting and recommendations
  • Lead technician for complex drives work
  • Overtime and periodic overnight travel required

Requirements

  • Pass pre-employment drug and background checks
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for long periods, and pass a physical exam
  • Valid driver’s license with good record
  • Willing to travel domestically; international travel a plus
  • Fluent in English
