Job description

Drives Business Development Manager OEM within Light Industry

The Sales Development Manager (SDM) is a proactive VFD (Variable Frequency Drives) new business hunter responsible for understanding VFD, industrial controls, and automation systems within the Light Industry markets, including industrial machinery, food & beverage, tooling, material handling, automotive, and industrial water and irrigation. The SDM must be capable of understanding complex company matrices and creating tailored go-to-market strategies, collaborating closely with colleagues to find optimal solutions for customers. The role involves managing the entire sales cycle from opportunity identification to closing.

Essential Functions
  • Focus on growth by targeting new large and strategic customers, including OEMs, engineering firms (EPCs), and system integrators.
  • Engage with Light Industry sectors such as machinery, food & beverage, tooling, material handling, automotive, and water/irrigation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to onboard new, large-scale customers.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, service, product management, supply chain, and application development teams.
  • Demonstrate vertical industry expertise to build trust and confidence.
  • Develop long-term, sustainable relationships with customers to secure partnerships.
  • Apply knowledge of OPEX and CAPEX strategies.
  • Lead 'WIN ROOM' activities to leverage internal stakeholders for acquiring key accounts.
  • Maintain accurate Salesforce records regarding new opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Channel Sales Team to deliver tailored solutions.
Job Travel and Location

Up to 70% domestic travel with limited international travel. This role is remote, with candidates ideally located in the Midwest, Gulf, or Eastern US, traveling within North America as needed.

Background & Skills

Education: BA/BS or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Minimum 5 years in front-line industry sales, preferably with a background in VFD, automation, and electrical equipment. CRM experience, especially with Salesforce, is preferred. Existing customer networks and understanding of the VFD and motion control markets are advantageous.
