Job summary

Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Officer to provide client transport to and from the facility and community employment. The role includes vehicle inspections, meticulous mileage logging, and reporting any incidents to supervision.

The position emphasizes professionalism, safety, and serving as a positive role model for participants, while ensuring adherence to work release program rules and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Ability to drive for long periods.
  • Experience in correctional or secure environments is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the local geographic area is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide transportation for clients to and from the facility and employment in the community.
  • Conduct visual inspections of vehicles at the beginning of each shift and document issues using the Spectrum Daily Vehicle Inspection Checklist.
  • Log all trips and mileage with accurate trip details (participants, purpose, dates, times).
  • Arrange for routine vehicle maintenance as directed by the Program Director.
  • Address participant issues promptly while providing transportation.
  • Report traffic violations, tickets, accidents, and other issues to the Program Director.
  • Complete assigned driver safety training within 30 days of employment.
  • Serve as role-model/mentor for offenders while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Report work release rule infractions and other behavioral issues to the Program Director.

Description

Location: State Farm, VA, the Transitional Women's Work Release Program (TWWR) mission is to teach low-security level inmates who are 4-10 months from release of incarceration effective coping skills to lead a pro-social, drug-free life and assist those eligible to obtain employment in the community.

Schedule: Hours will vary

Pay Rate: $18.33/hour

The Transportation Officer is responsible for:

  • Providing transportation for clients to and from the facility and employment in the community.
  • Conducting visual inspections of vehicles at the beginning of each shift documenting any issues or concerns using the Spectrum Daily Vehicle Inspection Checklist.
  • Logging all trips and mileage keeping an accurate accounting of each trip, individuals present in the vehicle, purpose of transportation, beginning and ending mileage, the date and time of day.
  • Bringing vehicles for routine maintenance and service and directed by the Program Director.
  • Addressing program participant issues, concerns, and inappropriate behaviors promptly while providing transportation.
  • Reporting traffic violations, parking tickets, accidents, and any other issue to the Program Director immediately.
  • Completing assigned driver safety training within 30 days of employment.
  • Serving as role-model/mentor for offenders while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Reporting infractions of work release program rules, issues at work and other behavioral issues to the Program Director immediately as identified.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a clean driving record and have the ability to drive for long periods of time.
  • Knowledge of the geographic area surrounding the facility and previous experience providing transportation as part of employment is a plus.
  • Experience working within a correctional or secure environment is a plus.
