Job summary

Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. in Virginia is seeking a Transportation Officer for the Transitional Women’s Work Release Program (TWWR).

The role involves providing client transportation to and from the facility and to community employment, with hours that will vary and a pay rate of $18.33 per hour. Responsibilities

• Providing transportation for clients to and from the facility and employment in the community.
• Conducting visual inspections of vehicles at the beginning of each shift documenting issues.
• Logging all trips and mileage with details of participants, purpose, and times.
• Bringing vehicles for routine maintenance as directed by the Program Director.
• Addressing participant issues promptly while providing transportation.
• Reporting infractions or issues to the Program Director immediately.
• Completing driver safety training within 30 days of employment.

Job description

Location: State Farm, VA, the Transitional Women’s Work Release Program (TWWR) mission is to teach low-security level inmates who are 4-10 months from release of incarceration effective coping skills to lead a pro-social, drug-free life and assist those eligible to obtain employment in the community.

Schedule: Hours will vary

Pay Rate: $18.33/hour

The Transportation Officer Is Responsible For

• Providing transportation for clients to and from the facility and employment in the community.
• Conducting visual inspections of vehicles at the beginning of each shift documenting any issues or concerns using the Spectrum Daily Vehicle Inspection Checklist.
• Logging all trips and mileage keeping an accurate accounting of each trip, individuals present in the vehicle, purpose of transportation, beginning and ending mileage, the date and time of day.
• Bringing vehicles for routine maintenance and service and directed by the Program Director.
• Addressing program participant issues, concerns, and inappropriate behaviors promptly while providing transportation.
• Reporting traffic violations, parking tickets, accidents, and any other issue to the Program Director immediately.
• Completing assigned driver safety training within 30 days of employment.
• Serving as role-model/mentor for offenders while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Reporting infractions of work release program rules, issues at work and other behavioral issues to the Program Director immediately as identified.

Qualifications

• Must have a clean driving record and have the ability to drive for long periods of time.
• Knowledge of the geographic area surrounding the facility and previous experience providing transportation as part of employment is a plus.
• Experience working within a correctional or secure environment is a plus.
