Job summary

Spectrum Health Systems in Virginia is seeking a Transportation Officer/Laundry Attendant for the Transitional Women’s Work Release Program. Per diem schedule provides up to 24 hours per week, with duties including transporting clients and performing laundry tasks.

You will ensure vehicle safety checks, log trips, and mentor program participants while maintaining professional boundaries and adhering to program rules.

Qualifications

• Must have a clean driving record and the ability to drive for long periods.
• Knowledge of the geographic area surrounding the facility and previous transportation experience is a plus.
• Experience in a correctional or secure environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Carry out laundry duties including sorting, washing, drying, and folding inmate work uniforms.
• Providing transportation for clients to and from the facility and employment in the community.
• Conducting visual inspections of vehicles at the beginning of each shift and documenting issues.
• Logging all trips and mileage with accurate trip details.
• Bringing vehicles for routine maintenance and service as directed.
• Addressing program participant issues promptly while providing transportation.
• Reporting traffic violations, tickets, accidents, and issues to the Program Director.
• Completing driver safety training within 30 days of employment.
• Serving as role-model/mentor for offenders while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Reporting infractions of work release program rules to the Program Director immediately.

Location: State Farm, VA, the Transitional Women’s Work Release Program (TWWR) mission is to teach low-security level inmates who are 4-10 months from release of incarceration effective coping skills to lead a pro-social, drug-free life and assist those eligible to obtain employment in the community.

Schedule: Per Diem, Maximum of 24 hours per week/hours will vary

Pay Rate: $19.89/hour

Transportation Officer/Laundry Attendant is responsible for:

• Carry out laundry duties including sorting, washing, drying, and folding inmate work uniforms.
• Providing transportation for clients to and from the facility and employment in the community.
• Conducting visual inspections of vehicles at the beginning of each shift documenting any issues or concerns using the Spectrum Daily Vehicle Inspection Checklist.
• Logging all trips and mileage keeping an accurate accounting of each trip, individuals present in the vehicle, purpose of transportation, beginning and ending mileage, the date and time of day.
• Bringing vehicles for routine maintenance and service and directed by the Program Director.
• Addressing program participant issues, concerns, and inappropriate behaviors promptly while providing transportation.
• Reporting traffic violations, parking tickets, accidents, and any other issue to the Program Director immediately.
• Completing assigned driver safety training within 30 days of employment.
• Serving as role-model/mentor for offenders while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Reporting infractions of work release program rules, issues at work and other behavioral issues to the Program Director immediately as identified.
