Job summary

Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Officer/Laundry Attendant for the Transitional Women’s Work Release Program in Virginia. This per diem position offers up to 24 hours per week and pays $19.89/hour.

The role includes laundry duties, transporting clients to work in the community, and ensuring safety and compliance. Responsibilities also cover vehicle inspections, trip logging, and supporting program participants within professional boundaries.

Qualifications

• Must have a clean driving record and be able to drive long distances.
• Knowledge of the geographic area surrounding the facility and previous transportation experience is a plus.
• Experience working within a correctional or secure environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform laundry duties including sorting, washing, drying, and folding inmate work uniforms.
• Provide transportation for clients to and from the facility and employment in the community.
• Conduct visual inspections of vehicles at the beginning of each shift and log trips and mileage.
• Log trips and mileage to maintain accurate records of each journey.
• Coordinate routine maintenance and servicing as directed by the Program Director.
• Address program participant issues promptly while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Report traffic violations, accidents, and any issues to the Program Director immediately.
• Complete assigned driver safety training within 30 days of employment.
• Serve as a role-model and mentor for offenders while upholding program rules.

Job description

Location: State Farm, VA, the Transitional Women’s Work Release Program (TWWR) mission is to teach low-security level inmates who are 4-10 months from release of incarceration effective coping skills to lead a pro-social, drug-free life and assist those eligible to obtain employment in the community.
Schedule: Per Diem, Maximum of 24 hours per week/hours will vary
Pay Rate: $19.89/hour
The Transportation Officer/Laundry Attendant Is Responsible For

• -Carry out laundry duties including sorting, washing, drying, and folding inmate work uniforms.
• -Providing transportation for clients to and from the facility and employment in the community.
• -Conducting visual inspections of vehicles at the beginning of each shift documenting any issues or concerns using the Spectrum Daily Vehicle Inspection Checklist.
• -Logging all trips and mileage keeping an accurate accounting of each trip, individuals present in the vehicle, purpose of transportation, beginning and ending mileage, the date and time of day.
• -Bringing vehicles for routine maintenance and service and directed by the Program Director.
• -Addressing program participant issues, concerns, and inappropriate behaviors promptly while providing transportation.
• -Reporting traffic violations, parking tickets, accidents, and any other issue to the Program Director immediately.
• -Completing assigned driver safety training within 30 days of employment.
• -Serving as role-model/mentor for offenders while maintaining professional boundaries.
• -Reporting infractions of work release program rules, issues at work and other behavioral issues to the Program Director immediately as identified.

• -Knowledge of the geographic area surrounding the facility and previous experience providing transportation as part of employment is a plus.
• -Experience working within a correctional or secure environment is a plus.
