Job summary

Spectrum Health Systems is hiring a Transportation Officer to provide safe transport for clients to and from the facility and community employment. The role includes vehicle inspections, meticulous trip logging, and reporting issues to the Program Director.

The position requires a clean driving record, knowledge of the local area, and willingness to work varied hours in a correctional program setting. Training will be provided, and you will serve as a positive role model for participants.

Qualifications

• Must have a clean driving record and ability to drive for long periods.
• Knowledge of the geographic area surrounding the facility; driving experience is a plus.
• Experience in a correctional or secure environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Providing transportation for clients to and from the facility and employment in the community.
• Conducting visual inspections of vehicles at the beginning of each shift using the Spectrum Daily Vehicle Inspection Checklist.
• Logging all trips and mileage with accurate records of participants, purpose, and times.
• Bringing vehicles for routine maintenance as directed by the Program Director.
• Addressing participant issues promptly while providing transportation.
• Reporting traffic violations, tickets, accidents, and other issues to the Program Director immediately.
• Completing assigned driver safety training within 30 days of employment.
• Serving as role-model/mentor for offenders while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Reporting infractions of work release program rules to the Program Director.

Location: State Farm, VA, the Transitional Women’s Work Release Program (TWWR) mission is to teach low-security level inmates who are 4-10 months from release of incarceration effective coping skills to lead a pro-social, drug-free life and assist those eligible to obtain employment in the community.

Schedule: Hours will vary

Pay Rate: $18.33/hour

The Transportation Officer is responsible for:

• Providing transportation for clients to and from the facility and employment in the community.
• Conducting visual inspections of vehicles at the beginning of each shift documenting any issues or concerns using the Spectrum Daily Vehicle Inspection Checklist.
• Logging all trips and mileage keeping an accurate accounting of each trip, individuals present in the vehicle, purpose of transportation, beginning and ending mileage, the date and time of day.
• Bringing vehicles for routine maintenance and service and directed by the Program Director.
• Addressing program participant issues, concerns, and inappropriate behaviors promptly while providing transportation.
• Reporting traffic violations, parking tickets, accidents, and any other issue to the Program Director immediately.
• Completing assigned driver safety training within 30 days of employment.
• Serving as role-model/mentor for offenders while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Reporting infractions of work release program rules, issues at work and other behavioral issues to the Program Director immediately as identified.

Qualifications

• Must have a clean driving record and have the ability to drive for long periods of time.
• Knowledge of the geographic area surrounding the facility and previous experience providing transportation as part of employment is a plus.
• Experience working within a correctional or secure environment is a plus.
