Job summary

TransCor America, LLC is seeking a Transportation Officer to ensure the safe and secure transport of inmates, detainees, and/or residents in line with correctional and transportation industry standards.

Eligible applicants must meet the qualifications: high school diploma or equivalent, 21 years of age, valid driver's license; CDL A or B preferred or related experience. Training is provided with pre-service and annual recertification.

• Prefer CDL A or B or Corrections, Military, Law Enforcement, or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the safe and orderly operation of the assigned trip in a manner that promotes public safety, staff safety and the secure and humane environment for inmates, detainees and/or residents.
• Manage inmate, detainee, and/or resident activity per policy; address complaints, resolve disputes, take corrective action, protect rights, and document per policy.
• Follow safety practices and report injuries or accidents promptly per policy; take action in emergencies.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and briefings; maintain effective communications with management and team.
• Maintain communication with Trip Management; do not deviate from planned route without clearance.
• Complete preventive maintenance of equipment and ensure readiness of restraints, weapons, OIC kits, vehicles, etc.
• Ensure effective management and control of resources including medications and property.
• Maintain professional relationships with team members, customer agencies and inmates/detainees.
• Application of restraints and Use of Force will follow policy and contract requirements.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Transportation Officer Hourly Rate: $33.15

• Guaranteed 40 hour pay check minimum per week

Senior Transportation Officer (after 6-9 months on average based on performance): $36.80

SUMMARY:

The Transportation Officer ensures the safe and secure transport of inmates, detainees, and/or residents while following established correctional and transportation industry standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The successful applicant should be able to perform all of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements.

• Responsible for the safe and orderly operation of the assigned trip in a manner that promotes public safety, staff safety and the secure and humane environment for inmates, detainees and/or residents.
• Manage inmate, detainee, and/or resident activity per policy. This includes listening to complaints and effectively resolving disputes or problems, taking corrective action, protecting inmate, detainee and residents rights, and completing all required documentation in accordance with policy.
• Follow sound safety practices and ensure that any injuries or accidents are reported in a timely and accurate manner per policy. Take appropriate action in cases of serious or unusual incidents and emergencies circumstances.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and briefings as required. Maintain and promote effective communications and the proper flow of relevant information to management and fellow team members.
• Maintain communication with Trip Management throughout the routed trip. Consult with Trip Management and/or Field Office Supervisor personnel in assessing situations and making decisions. Will not deviate from planned trip route unless cleared and/or directed by proper authorities.
• Complete preventive maintenance of equipment and ensure readiness of restraints, weapons, OIC kits, vehicles, etc.
• Ensure effective management and control of resources to include inmate/detainee and/or resident medications and property.
• Maintain professional relationships and communications when with team members, all customer agencies and inmates, detainees and/or residents.
• Application of restraints and the Use of Force will be strictly followed according to policy and customer contract requirements.
• Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
