Illinois Secretary of State, Office of the Secretary, Sparta location, is seeking a Public Service Representative to administer road and written driver’s examinations and perform cashier duties for fees. You will review license and title applications and provide information to the public in a busy field office.

This role requires strong English skills, basic bookkeeping, and the ability to work independently within defined procedures.

Qualifications

• Eight years of elementary education.
• Two years of general office experience; preferably in a driver or motor vehicle setting.
• Basic knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic.
• Familiarity with office methods and procedures.
• Basic knowledge of Illinois Vehicle Code related to licensing processes.
• Basic bookkeeping procedures.
• Ability to maintain records and work with the public.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Independent work within defined procedures.
• Must hold a valid Illinois driver’s license and be willing to travel.
• Ability to lift 0–25 lbs.

Responsabilités

• Administers road examinations to applicants for all classes of driver’s licenses; serves as information clerk to the public.
• Administers and grades written driver’s examinations; explains incorrect test responses; codes applications.
• Performs cashier functions for driver license and motor vehicle fees; balances cash and prepares deposit records.
• Reviews and completes motor vehicle title and registration applications; handles fee checks and attachments.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.
