Job summary

Cox Fleet in Indianapolis is seeking a CDL A Driver – Vehicle Porter to join our Shop Team. The role shuttles commercial vehicles between our maintenance shop and customer sites, with home every evening.

Responsibilities include picking up and delivering parts, delivering excellent customer service, supporting shop goals, and maintaining a safe, compliant work environment while attending management meetings as needed.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; 3 years’ related experience, or 5 years’ related field experience
• Valid Class A CDL required
• 1–3 years CDL driving experience
• Must lift up to 75 pounds and maneuver heavy equipment
• Must read and follow maps, routes, and GPS systems
• Ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external contacts
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to communicate at all levels of the organization

Cox Fleet is currently hiring a CDL A Driver – Vehicle Porter to join our Shop Team to support the future growth of the Company.

Duties:

• Shuttle commercial vehicles to be repaired or post repairs between our maintenance shop and our customers in the surrounding area - be home every evening.
• Pick up and deliver parts from local parts stores/distribution centres back to our maintenance shop.
• Provide excellent customer service by going above and beyond customers’ expectations.
• Contributes to achievement of Maintenance Shop department goals and objectives.
• Maintains a safe and compliant working environment.
• Attend management meetings when requested.
• Other duties as assigned to meet business requirements.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline; or 5 years’ experience in a related field.
• A valid Class A commercial driver’s licence (CDL).
• Between 1 and 3 years of CDL driving experience.
• The ability to lift to 75 pounds and manoeuvre heavy equipment.
• The ability to read/follow maps, routes, and GPS system.
• Experience in positions demonstrates the ability to provide exceptional customer service to external and internal contacts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organisation.
• Familiarity with the local geography.
• This position follows regulations issued by the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
• A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical. If the DOT medical card has four (4) months or less of validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required.
• Due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older.
• Safe drivers needed and 3 YR MVR review required; Candidate must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s licence, be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File.
