Job summary

Responsibilities

• Drive a Class A vehicle (pickup, box, bobtail, dump, or van) and operate safely per procedures.
• Place and exchange trailers at donation sites or designated locations.
• Complete required logs, manifests and paperwork; prepare/load for transport.
• Perform load securement, daily safety checks, and minor vehicle repairs as needed.
• Instruct new Class A drivers in procedures and safety standards.

PAY RANGE: $28.00-$31.00JOB SUMMARY: Complete scheduled trailer moves and changes, deliveries and pickups within required timelines. Operate heavy machinery (such as roll-off trailer and compactor) safely and as required.ESSENTIAL DUTIESDrive a Class A vehicle pickup-truck, box-truck, bobtail, dump truck and/or van, operating according to established procedures and rules. Follow all required state and federal rules and regulations.Place and/or exchange trailers at donation sites or other designated sites.Complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Report, trip sheets, shipping manifests, pickup logs and other related paperwork.Load and/or off-load materials and prepare load for transport. Secure load in a safe manner.Complete daily safety operational checklist prior to leaving plant and at all stops as necessary to maintain safety and regulatory compliance.Monitor truck conditions and performance during operations and report all problems immediately or as soon as it is safe to do so. Perform minor repairs as needed. The temperature and exposure to elements will fluctuate depending on weather conditions.There is exposure to dust, dirt, vehicle fumes and other air borne particles. Occasionally the incumbent must handle household toxic products which are received in donations. There is regular exposure to gasoline, diesel fuel, and engine oil.Work is complete independently but in cooperation with others. There is occasional contact with donation center personnel and public. The noise/volume will vary throughout the day with exposure to both truck engine noise, heavy equipment noise and other traffic noise and general noises at the stores, donation stations and plant.Material handling equipment (forklift, hand truck, movable containers/racks) and trucks may be operated in or near work area.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe job requires frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs., with regular lifting up to 50 lbs.
