Job Overview
Provide safe, efficient, and reliable transportation by operating school buses to transport students and related activities, maintaining good relations with staff, administrators, teachers, coaches, and community members. Provide clerical support as assigned by the Operations Manager. The role involves approximately 50% driving and 50% clerical work, depending on workload.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operations

• Transport students over assigned route, following traffic laws and safety regulations
• Operate school bus safely according to laws and district policies
• Perform pre and post-trip inspections
• Report accidents or issues immediately
• Follow route directions and schedules safely
• Keep vehicle interior clean, fueled, and presentable
• Assist passengers in emergencies if needed

Administrative

• Complete required paperwork promptly
• Enforce student discipline and prepare reports
• Interpret routes and use maps
• Attend training and safety meetings
• Maintain confidentiality of student information

Office Support

• Perform clerical tasks such as answering phones, filing, data entry, and errands
• Support staff, including dispatch and ride-alongs
• Manage data like student headcounts and fleet mileage
• Distribute special ed equipment
• Report as scheduled or requested
• Mentor new employees and assist with scheduling

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Texas CDL Driver's License, Class A or B, with P and S endorsements
• Pass DOT physical
• Texas School Bus Driver Certification and refresher every 3 years
• At least 1 year as a professional school bus driver
• At least 1 year of administrative experience
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations
• Ability to work well with staff

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Work involves physical activities like walking, sitting, bending, and lifting under 40 pounds. Must use hands and eyes effectively, and work in various environments, sometimes in inclement weather. Safety precautions are necessary, and extended hours may be required.

Additional Information

• Work may involve exposure to weather, noise, traffic, and dust, with potential for injury. Must be able to evacuate the bus in emergencies and work irregular hours.
