Job summary

Diversified Human Services, Inc. seeks a Driver Aide to provide safe, reliable transport for individuals with developmental disabilities to medical appointments, community activities, day programs, and home visits.

The role requires assisting clients with mobility, maintaining logs, and upholding confidentiality and agency policies. Qualified applicants will have a PA driver’s license with a clean record, pass a physical exam with vision check, and clear required background checks.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Must undergo a Physical Examination including vision screening and be deemed qualified to drive.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients in entering and exiting vehicles and provide support during transportation.
• Supervise and transport clients during outings and appointments.
• Maintain transportation logs and ensure on-time arrivals.
• Report accidents, needed repairs, or state inspections to supervisor.
• Respect client privacy and follow agency policies and procedures.

This position will assist the individuals to medical appointments, community outings, recreational activities, day programs, home visits, and other scheduled activities.Essential Functions:Assist clients safely in entering and existing vehicles and provide support as needed during transportation.Provide supervision and safely transport clients throughout the entire outing.Communicate respectfully with clients, families, caregivers, and other staff.Assist client with mobility needs and personal belongs, when necessary.Maintain accurate and required transportation logs/documentation.Ensure that clients arrive at scheduled destinations safely and on time.Maintain confidentiality and respect each client’s privacy.Operates assigned vehicle(s) and performs such routine duties as filling gas tank, routine safety checks, etc.Report’s accidents, needed repairs, state inspections, etc. to immediate supervisor as soon as discovered or directly upon occurrence.Other duties as required.Adheres to all policies, laws, regulations and codes of ethics and confidentiality as outlined by federal and state laws, and agency policies and procedures.Demonstrated ability to safely operate and control delivery vehicles.Knowledge of general and routine vehicle maintenance requirements.Valid Pennsylvania driver's license and safe driving record.Must undergo a Physical Examination, including vision screening and be deemed qualified to drive for the agency.Must be considered insurable by the Agency's Insurance Company.Must successfully obtain criminal clearance from the PA State Police, Child Abuse Clearance from the PA Department of Human Services, and FBI Fingerprint Clearances.Must not be excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid, or any other federal health care program.Ability to routinely assist, move, and/or transfer items and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and assist clients with mobility when entering or existing the vehicle.Ability to respond to unexpected situations.Available Benefits:Medical and dental benefits for eligible employees.Retirement plan with potential for agency match.Tuition discounts with partnering colleges and universities.Career advancement opportunities.Generous time off for eligible employees.Be an SPHS Hero!EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
