Job summary

Wausau Supply Company is seeking a CDL Class A driver to transport building materials to customers nationwide. You will perform pre/post trip inspections, secure loads per DOT regulations, and maintain accurate driver logs while delivering top-notch service.

The ideal candidate will have at least 100,000 miles of driving experience, a clean record, and the ability to lift 75 pounds. DOT testing and a strong safety mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 100,000 miles driving experience; 1 year minimum preferred.
• Must have a clean driving record.
• Must possess a Class A CDL with air brake endorsement.
• Must pass a DOT Physical and a DOT pre-employment drug test.
• Must be able to lift 75 pounds and push/pull 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Drive tractor-trailer to customer locations and return to the distribution center.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Check load and secure to DOT regulations; ensure load is safe and legal.
• Maintain driver logs and inspection reports per DOT requirements.
• Assist receivers with unloading and loading as needed.
• Maintain professional image and adhere to safety standards.

What This Role Will Be Doing

A Wausau Supply Company Driver operates a gasoline or diesel‑powered tractor‑trailer combination to transport, unload, and deliver products to customers safely and efficiently. The Driver is responsible for understanding and supporting all company goals, including quality control and maintaining high standards of workmanship. This role requires anticipating potential issues that could impact long‑term objectives and taking proactive steps to prevent them. To be effective, the Driver must demonstrate strong communication skills and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally. Professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to customer service are essential to success in this position.

Duties

• Adherent to all safety standards set in place by Wausau Supply Company
• Complete safety trainings in a timely manner
• Complete a pre‑trip and post‑trip inspection on the tractor and trailer
• Check load and secure to D.O.T. Regulations. Make sure the load is safe and legal before moving
• Drive truck safely and legally to customer locations and return to the distribution center
• Open curtains, unstrap product, count and check product for damage and shortages
• Assist receivers in unloading and loading the truck as needed
• Maintains driver logs and inspection reports according to D.O.T. regulations
• Always maintain good housekeeping and a professional image
• Must be able to work flexible schedule, with availability for occasional overnights to support business needs
• Use and follow company portals (Samsara, Cheetah, etc.) when making customer deliveries
• Adherent to expense policies and procedures set forth by Wausau Supply Company

Education / Experience

• Minimum one year, 100,000 miles driving experience – preferred, but not required
• Must have a clean driving record

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Must possess a Class A CDL with air brake endorsement
• Must be able to pass a D.O.T. Physical
• Must pass a DOT Pre‑employment drug test

Working Demands / Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 75 pounds
• Able to push/pull 100 pounds
• Be able to assist in loading and unloading a variety of building materials as needed
• Able to obtain a D.O.T. medical card

Work Environment

This job requires the drivers to be outside in all weather conditions, all year round.
