Job summary

Wausau Supply Company is seeking a Warehouse/Truck Driver to support loading, unloading, and delivery of building materials across our routes. You will use a handheld system to process freight, pick and stage orders, and ensure DOT compliance.

Qualified candidates will hold a Class A CDL with air brake endorsement, be forklift-certified, and pass a DOT physical and drug test. Long peak-season shifts are typical.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL with air brake endorsement.
• Must pass a DOT pre-employment drug test and DOT physical.
• Forklift certification is required.
• Ability to lift 100 pounds and operate in a warehouse environment.
• Excellent math and measurement skills; dependable and punctual.

Responsibilities

• Use a handheld computer to receive incoming and outgoing freight.
• Pick products for customer orders and stage for loading.
• Load orders on semi-trucks and unload stock onto racking.
• Inspect trucks and ensure loads are safe and DOT compliant.
• Drive truck safely to customer locations and back; maintain logs.
• Assist with loading/unloading and operate forklift as needed.

What This Role Will Be Doing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (not limited to)

• Use of hand held computer to receive incoming and outgoing freight
• Picking product for Customer Orders and staging for loading
• Loading orders on semi-trucks
• Unloading stock onto racking
• Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition to ensure truck is safe
• Check Load and secure to D.O.T. Regulations. Make sure the load is safe and legal before moving
• Drive truck safely and legally to customer locations and return
• Open curtains, unstrap product, count and check product for damage and shortages
• Assist receivers in unloading and loading the truck
• Maintains driver logs and inspection reports according to D.O.T. regulations
• Maintain a professional image at all times
• Must be able to be forklift certified to aid in loading, unloading, and general warehouse work
• Must be able to work flexible schedule

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to able to hand lift 100 pounds occasionally, 70 pounds repetitively
• Products of 100 or more are lifted with forklift
• Able to obtain a D.O.T. medical card.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• A Warehouse Material Handler will be exposed to all weather conditions
• Flexibility with hours and schedules is necessary due to work days of 10-13 hours during our peak season
