HDR is a leading employee-owned engineering firm delivering water infrastructure expertise across North America. The Drinking Water Market Sector seeks a senior leader to advance strategic positioning, client development, and pursuit strategies that win high-value contracts.

In this role, you will mentor staff, coordinate with regional teams, manage key projects as Principal in Charge, and build enduring client relationships while expanding HDR's presence in competitive markets.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years relevant industry experience
• Self-starter with a history of completing projects with limited oversight
• Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry's standard approach to procurement of professional services
• Proven ability to motivate and inspire others
• Ability to build a network of clients and industry partners
• Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies
• Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability and desire to travel and engage with others in-person
• Demonstrated experience in growing programs in new or highly competitive markets
• Demonstrated experience in winning high-value contracts in the A/E/C industry
• Demonstrated experience in writing compelling content based on information from technical staff

Responsibilities

• Lead pursuit strategies and wins for the Drinking Water Market Sector, coordinating with cross-functional teams.
• Coordinate with Regional/Area client development programs and marketing managers/pursuit leaders.
• Interface with Regional/Area leadership to develop market sector initiatives and growth.
• Act as Principal in Charge on key project delivery and support QA/QC programs.
• Mentor staff, recruit prospective market sector employees, and drive technical excellence.
• Develop relationships with senior leadership and industry partners to expand HDR's market presence.
• Drive client management and strategic differentiation for planning and engineering services.
