Job summary

Boart Longyear seeks a Coring Driller Assistant to support drilling crews in rugged field environments, offering hands-on work and a path to certifications. This role provides a fast-track to higher pay through milestones and safety training.

You will work 14–20 days on, 7–10 days off, travel to diverse worksites, and receive company-funded PPE and boot allowance. Opportunity for progression and competitive overtime accompanies benefits.

Qualifications

• Willing to travel by plane or car to worksites across multiple states.
• Able to commute long distances (300+ miles) for shifts.
• Willing to work in remote locations and all-weather conditions.
• Willing to work 12+ hour shifts for 14–20 days at a time.
• Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• Must have valid U.S. Work Authorization.
• Must pass background and drug screening.
• Must pass a Physical Functional Fitness Evaluation.
• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of drilling experience.
• Minimum of 1 year in related roles (construction, heavy labor, mechanic).

Responsibilities

• Hauling supplies to and from the drill site.
• Manual material handling.
• Mixing drilling fluids.
• Making connections – Adding/Removing rods to/from drill string.
• Sample Collection – Ensure bags/cores are labeled and ordered correctly.
• Building chip trays.
• Assist in rigging up/down and moving to new drill locations.
• Fueling site equipment and performing preventive maintenance (Oil Changes, Greasing, Fueling).
• Complete daily site inspections and pre-shift inspections on all equipment.
• Provide site inductions to all visitors.
• Maintain an accurate parts inventory.
• General condition of and optimal life of site equipment and tooling.
• Other duties as assigned by Driller/Field Supervisor.
• Training of new drillers in a safe environment.
