Job summary

Boart Longyear is hiring a Large Rotary Driller Assistant to support field drilling operations across multiple sites in the western United States. The role emphasizes hands-on training, frequent travel, and advancement opportunities through pay bumps at milestones.

You will assist in rigging, fuel and maintain equipment, collect samples, and help manage safety and site inductions while working extended shifts in remote locations with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Willing to travel by plane or car to worksites across multiple states.
• Able to commute long distances (300+ miles).
• Willing to work in remote locations and all-weather environments.
• Willing to work 12+ hour shifts for 14–20 days at a time.
• Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• Must have valid U.S. Work Authorization.
• Must pass background and drug screening.
• Must pass a Physical Functional Fitness Evaluation.
• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of drilling experience and/or related mechanical work.

Responsibilities

• Hauling supplies to and from the drill site.
• Manual material handling.
• Mixing drilling fluids.
• Adding/Removing rods to/from drill string.
• Sample collection and proper labelling of cores.
• Building chip trays and organizing inventory.
• Assist in rigging up/down and moving to new drill locations.
• Site equipment fueling and preventative maintenance.
