Job summary

Boart Longyear is seeking a Coring Driller Assistant to join our field crews in Virginia. This entry-level role offers paid training, including MSHA and First Aid, and a clear pathway to advanced drill positions. You will support drilling teams, handle materials, and participate in safety-focused operations.

Expect 14–20 days on, 7–10 days off with significant overtime opportunities. Travel across Virginia and nearby states is common, with the chance to earn a strong total compensation and build

Qualifications

• Willingness to travel to worksites throughout Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and other states where we do business.
• Able to commute long distances for shifts (300+ miles)
• Willing to work in remote locations and in all-weather elements
• Willing to work extended periods of 12+ hour shifts for 14-20 days at a time
• Must pass background and drug screening
• Must pass a Physical Functional Fitness Evaluation
• Minimum of 1 year of directly related drilling experience or equivalent positions

Responsibilities

• Provide semi-skilled labor-intensive assistance for drilling crews.
• Hauling supplies to and from the drill site.
• Manual material handling and mixing drilling fluids.
• Assist in rigging up/down and moving to new locations.
• Complete daily site inspections and equipment checks.
• Maintain an accurate parts inventory and support site inductions for visitors.
