Job summary

Orion is seeking an Oiler to maintain and operate engines and machinery aboard our dredge. You will support the Chief Engineer with routine inspections, lubrication, and minor repairs to ensure safe, efficient dredging operations.

The ideal candidate has 6–12 months dredging experience, understands marine engines, and can work 12-hour shifts with a 2 weeks on/1 week off schedule. Safety and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• 6–12 months dredging experience required.
• Experience with marine engines and machinery.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts (2 weeks on, 1 week off).
• Strong safety mindset and adherence to procedures.
• Ability to read gauges, logs, and report irregularities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate engines, motors, and machinery aboard the dredge.
• Inspect engines and other machinery for proper operation.
• Oil and grease engines and equipment.
• Check machinery for wear and perform minor repairs.
• Assist in making repairs to engines and machinery when required.
• Report unusual conditions or sounds related to engine performance.
• Use hand and power tools for repairs.
• Maintain engine room logbooks and downtime records.
• Monitor gauges for proper operation and take corrective action.
• Adhere to safety and environmental initiatives aboard the dredge.
