Job summary

Orion seeks a 2nd Engineer to oversee the safe, efficient operation of dredge engines, motors, and equipment. You will work with the Chief Engineer and Deck Captain to minimize downtime and ensure timely maintenance.

Requirements include 6 months to 1 year dredging experience, ability to work 12-hour shifts, and the goal to obtain a Tankerman license within one year. Willingness to work a 2 weeks on/1 week off rotation is expected.

Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year dredging experience required.
• Prior experience as 2nd Engineer desirable.
• Ability to obtain Tankerman license within one year.

Responsibilities

• Operate and supervise safe, efficient dredge engine and machinery operations.
• Inspect engines, maintain logs, and report abnormalities to Chief Engineer.
• Maintain fuel consumption records and manage parts inventory.
• Train crew on safety procedures and proper equipment use.
• Ensure proper lubrication, greasing, and timely repairs.
• Support safety and environmental compliance programs.
