Job summary

Dauenhauer Plumbing, Heating & Air, part of TurnPoint Services, seeks a Drain Technician to diagnose, clean, and repair residential and commercial drain systems. This hands-on role rewards problem-solving and excellent customer service in Kentucky.

You’ll use cable machines, jetters, and cameras, perform safety-compliant work, and document service tickets. Pay is $19.00–$25.00 per hour, with a training period raise, shift differentials, and full-time schedules.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of drain cleaning, service, or related plumbing experience.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record; plumbing apprentice license a plus.
  • Knowledge of drain cleaning equipment (cable, jetter, camera systems); basic plumbing knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and ability to explain findings clearly.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in confined spaces, and perform physical labor.
  • Willing to work evenings, weekends, or participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnostics & Repair: Locate, diagnose, and clear drain and sewer blockages using cable machines, jetters, or camera systems.
  • Video Inspection: Operate sewer cameras and locators to identify line issues such as root intrusion, breaks, or grade problems.
  • Repair Recommendations: Provide professional assessments and explain repair options (spot repairs, trenchless, excavation, or replacements).
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled cleanings and maintenance for recurring problem drains.
  • Customer Service: Communicate clearly with customers about findings, solutions, and pricing; ensure all work is completed to satisfaction.
  • Documentation: Complete service tickets accurately with photos, videos, and detailed notes in the field software system.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow OSHA and company safety protocols, PPE standards, and proper chemical handling procedures.
  • Teamwork: Coordinate with supervisors, dispatch, and plumbers for complex repairs or follow-up work.

Role Overview

Drain Technician

Pay: $19-$25/hour - Pay increase after training period + Commissions.
Schedule: Flexible and multiple shifts available. Shift differentials available.

The Drains Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic, cleaning, and repair services for residential and commercial drain systems.

This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys problem-solving, providing excellent customer service, and working with advanced drain-cleaning tools and technology. The Drains Technician clears stoppages, inspects sewer and drain lines, recommends repairs, and ensures each customer receives safe, efficient, and high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities

What You Bring
  • Minimum 1 years of drain cleaning, service, or related plumbing experience preferred.
  • Licensing: Valid driver's license with clean driving record required; plumbing apprentice license a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of drain cleaning equipment (cable, sectional, jetter, camera systems); basic plumbing knowledge.
  • Customer Skills: Excellent communication and ability to explain findings and solutions clearly. -
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in confined spaces, and perform physical labor in various environments.
  • Availability: Willing to work evenings, weekends, or participate in an on-call rotation as needed.
