Job summary

Service Professor in Grand Ledge, MI is seeking a Drain Technician to temporarily restore flow to residential drain lines, educate customers on care, and convert jobs into leads for the Sewer team.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of plumbing, drain cleaning, or related experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • CRM software and Microsoft Office (Outlook & Excel) proficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail and quick, accurate communication with sales team.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized work truck.

Your Day-to-Day:
  • Locate blockages and temporarily restore flow to the home drain lines
  • Educate the customer on better practices to care for their sewer system
  • Convert the job into a lead for a Sewer Sales team member to come out and develop long‑term service options to meet the home repair needs of the client
  • Establish customer rapport to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction
  • Collect client information and maintain accurate interaction notes
  • Share with the customer about company perks like memberships and financing options
  • Use mobile technology and field service applications to take photos, document job details, and complete work orders.
  • Collect payment for completed work providing necessary documentation to the customer and company
  • Participate in all required company trainings and meetings
  • Serve on an on‑call duty rotation
  • Travel to customer homes
What Does It Take?
  • Work Experience: 1 year of previous plumbing, drain cleaning, or related experience
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license
  • Computer Skills: Customer relationship management (CRM) software, intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office knowledge including Outlook and Excel
  • Organization Skills: High attention to detail is a must. Must be able to communicate updates quickly and efficiently with accurate records to the sales team. Ability to maintain a clean and organized work truck
  • Communication Skills: Communicate with customers daily in a professional and ethical manner when representing the company. Interactions can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e‑mail
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Work Experience: Previous experience or knowledge of plumbing, sewer, or drain
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of Service Titan software
Pay + Commission:
  • $18.00/per hour, plus commission on all flips sold and completed
Physical Requirements:

This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, and working in confined or restricted spaces such as basements, crawlspaces, and under fixtures. Employees must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds, including drain cleaning equipment, sewer machines, tools, and materials. The role requires sufficient strength and dexterity to operate hand and power tools, drain and sewer cleaning equipment, and other plumbing equipment throughout the workday. Work is performed in and around residential homes and may include exposure to indoor and outdoor environments, varying temperatures and weather conditions, wet or damp areas, standing water, sewage and wastewater, dirt, dust, odors, noise, and other conditions commonly encountered during drain and sewer service work. Employees must also be able to safely enter and exit service vehicles and travel between customer locations throughout the workday.
