Job summary

EMCOR Group is seeking a Mechanical Drafter I to support the Mesa Energy Systems Engineering Group in West Sacramento, CA. The role focuses on drafting and developing HVAC system schematics under the direction of engineers and project teams.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of CAD drafting experience with AutoCAD/REVIT, strong blueprint reading and communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously on diverse commercial, industrial, and government projects.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 1-year certificate in CAD design and blueprint reading.
• 2+ years CAD drafting with AutoCAD/REVIT training.
• Ability to work autonomously per project needs.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems components.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers by drafting detailed schematics for HVAC systems based on instructions and guidelines.
• Draft and develop layouts for mechanical systems from engineers’ directions.
• Participate in site surveys to gather as-built data.
• Convert field surveys into CAD-ready formats; use AutoCAD to develop plans.
• Maintain CAD detail library and CAD standards; support project improvements.
• Assist in preparing work scope and submittal packages; handle related tasks.

Job Summary

This position will provide drafting and engineering support to the Mesa Energy Systems Engineering Group. The Mechanical Drafter I will apply their drafting experience to support the Engineers and Team Members. This person will be presented with various projects in the commercial, industrial, government, healthcare, and education markets.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform various tasks assigned by Mechanical Engineers, Senior Engineers, and the Engineering Manager/Director.
• Assist in producing detailed schematics for HVAC systems based on instructions and pre-established guidelines.
• Assist Mechanical Engineers by participating in job site surveys to gather as-built technical information.
• Draft and develop layouts for mechanical systems based on direction from Mechanical Engineers.
• Convert field surveys into usable formats for plan and project development. Use AutoCAD to develop plans.
• Participate in the company’s project improvement process by maintaining/improving CAD Detail Library and CAD Standards.
• Other duties may include copying/printing/scanning, assembly of equipment submittal packages, assistance in preparing work scope, and other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or a 1-year certificate program from a community college or technical school, focusing on CAD software, design fundamentals, and blueprint reading
• 2+ years of CAD Drafting experience with formal AutoCAD/REVIT Drafting training/certification enrollment or completion.
• Must make autonomous decisions based on experience and project requirements.
• Develop a working knowledge of Permitting submittal requirements in the Mechanical field.
• Computer-savvy, willing and able to understand and learn new software programs. Developing proficiency of AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, and other related software applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Increasing awareness of HVAC Systems and Components (Hot Water, Chilled Water, Condensing Water, Chillers, Fans, Heat Pumps, etc.)

Compensation Range: $29 - $34 per hour
