Job summary

EMCOR Group, Inc. is hiring for a CAD Drafting position in California. The role supports mechanical engineers by producing HVAC schematics, drafting layouts, and capturing field survey data using AutoCAD and REVIT. Strong communication and a proactive problem-solving approach are essential.

The candidate will contribute to CAD standards, assist in job site surveys, and manage documentation for project development in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required or 2 years of CAD Drafting experience with formal AutoCAD/REVIT Drafting training/certification enrollment or completion.
• Must make autonomous decisions based on experience and project requirements.
• Develop a working knowledge of Permitting submittal requirements in the Mechanical field.
• Computer-savvy; familiar with AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, and related software applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Growing familiarity with HVAC Systems and components (Hot Water, Chilled Water, Condensing Water, Chillers, Fans, Heat Pumps, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Assist in producing detailed schematics for HVAC systems.
• Assist Mechanical Engineers by participating in job site surveys to gather as-built technical information.
• Draft and develop layouts for mechanical systems based on direction from Mechanical Engineers.
• Convert field surveys into usable formats for plan and project development. Use AutoCAD to develop plans.
• Participate in the project improvement process by maintaining CAD Detail Library and CAD Standards.
• Other duties may include copying/printing/scanning, assembly of equipment submittal packages, assistance in preparing work scope.

• Perform various tasks assigned by Mechanical Engineers, Senior Engineers, and the Engineering Manager/Director.
• Assist in producing detailed schematics for HVAC systems based on instructions and pre-established guidelines.
• Assist Mechanical Engineers by participating in job site surveys to gather as-built technical information.
• Draft and develop layouts for mechanical systems based on direction from Mechanical Engineers.

• Participate in the company’s project improvement process by maintaining/improving CAD Detail Library and CAD Standards.

Compensation Range: $29 - $34 per hour
