Job Title: AutoCAD Drafter / DesignerJob Description

This role supports the Facilities team by developing, updating, and maintaining accurate facility as-built drawings through a combination of field verification, measurement, and documentation of existing conditions. The AutoCAD Drafter / Designer works hands-on in active manufacturing and industrial environments to ensure that drawings and documentation reliably reflect current building layouts, utilities, equipment, and infrastructure. The position closely supports Facilities and Engineering teams by providing precise documentation for space planning, facility modifications, maintenance planning, and capital improvement projects.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, update, and maintain facility as-built drawings using AutoCAD in accordance with established standards.

  • Perform on-site field verification of existing buildings, utilities, equipment layouts, and infrastructure to confirm current conditions.

  • Take accurate field measurements and thoroughly document pre-existing conditions across the facility.

  • Translate field notes, sketches, and observations into clear, accurate, and well-organized CAD drawings.

  • Verify existing drawings against actual site conditions, identify discrepancies, and update drawings to correct and reflect true conditions.

  • Support Facilities and Engineering teams by providing reliable documentation for space planning, facility modifications, maintenance planning, and capital improvement projects.

  • Maintain drawing organization, layering standards, and revision control to ensure drawings are current, traceable, and easy to access.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including Facilities and Engineering, to validate information and resolve questions about existing conditions.

  • Adhere to site safety policies and procedures when working in operational industrial and manufacturing environments.

  • Manage multiple drawing updates and assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a demanding environment.

  • Apply drafting techniques, principles, and practices to produce clear assemblies, sub-assemblies, and detail drawings suitable for fabrication.

  • Incorporate basic weld symbols and mechanical details into drawings as required.

  • Review and revise mechanical, architectural, and structural drawings to maintain accuracy and consistency.

  • Use Autodesk Inventor and other drafting tools, where applicable, to support mechanical design and mechanical drafting tasks.

  • Maintain meticulous documentation and records of drawing revisions and updates.

Essential Skills
  • Proven experience as an AutoCAD Drafter, ideally supporting facilities, industrial, or manufacturing environments.

  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD (2D), including experience creating and updating as-built drawings.

  • Knowledge of drafting techniques, principles, and practices applied to mechanical, architectural, and structural drawings.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform on-site field verification and measurement in active industrial or manufacturing environments.

  • Ability to accurately translate field notes, sketches, and observations into precise CAD drawings.

  • Solid understanding of building layouts and architectural and basic MEP elements, including walls, doors, utilities, and equipment layouts.

  • Ability to visualize and effectively lay out assemblies, sub-assemblies, and details for fabrication.

  • Basic understanding of weld symbols and their application in mechanical and structural drawings.

  • High level of organization and attention to detail, with a strong focus on documentation accuracy and revision control.

  • Effective written communication skills for documenting conditions and changes clearly.

  • Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills to collaborate with Facilities, Engineering, and other stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively handle multiple assignments in a demanding environment.

  • Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple drawing updates with minimal supervision.

  • General knowledge of manufacturing, production, and industrial environments.

Work Environment

The position is based in an industrial manufacturing environment. The AutoCAD Drafter / Designer will split time between a dedicated workspace for drawing and documentation and active areas of the facility for field verification, measurements, and site walks. The role requires wearing appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment when walking the site and working hands-on in operational areas. The environment includes exposure to typical manufacturing conditions such as machinery, equipment, and production activity. Work hours follow a standard full-time schedule with some flexibility in start and end times, typically within a range such as 6:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., or 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., and the position is performed on site. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
