Job summary

Brooksource in Detroit is seeking a CAD Operator to support design and drafting across mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines. This role requires strong CAD experience and attention to detail within utility and engineering environments.

You will create, modify, and maintain drawings in AutoCAD and MicroStation, develop 2D and basic 3D renderings, support electric distribution projects, and generate dashboards using Power BI.

Qualifications

• CAD Operator work experience and/or college coursework in CAD operations.
• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to create and modify drawings across multiple disciplines.
• Knowledge of standard 3D drafting practices.
• Experience with Power BI and Microsoft Office.

Job Description

We are seeking a CAD Operator to support design and drafting activities across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural projects. This role requires strong CAD experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work within utility and engineering environments.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and maintain technical drawings using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Develop and update 2D and basic 3D drawings for engineering and construction projects.
• Draft components and layouts in mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
• Support electric distribution projects involving overhead, underground, and substation systems.
• Generate dashboards, track project data, and support reporting initiatives.
• Utilize Power BI and Microsoft Office tools to analyze and present project information.
• Provide basic PC maintenance and troubleshooting support as needed.
• Collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure drawing accuracy and compliance with standards.

Required Qualifications

• CAD Operator work experience and/or completion of college or university coursework in CAD operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous utility, energy, or infrastructure industry experience.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
