Job summary

Lundbeck in Bothell, WA seeks a Scientist I in Downstream Process Development to advance scalable purification workflows for therapeutic biologics across preclinical to late-stage programs.

You will design and execute studies in chromatography, UF/DF, depth filtration, and viral clearance, collaborating with upstream, analytical, and formulation teams, and supporting tech transfer and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years in biopharma, or Master’s with 6+ years, or PhD with 0–2 years in biopharma
• Expertise in protein purification using chromatography and filtration techniques (UF/DF, depth filtration, viral inactivation/filtration)
• Ability to independently design scientifically rigorous experiments and interpret complex datasets
• Proficiency in Unicorn-based AKTA programming and result evaluation

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and interpret downstream studies for clinical and commercial programs
• Lead chromatography, UF/DF, depth filtration, viral inactivation and viral filtration activities
• Develop scalable and robust purification processes addressing performance and robustness
• Prepare technical reports, development documents, and transfer protocols
• Collaborate across upstream, analytical, and formulation development groups
