Job summary

Lundbeck Seattle BioPharmaceuticals (Lu-SBP) in Bothell, WA seeks a Scientist I for Downstream Process Development. You will develop scalable purification processes for biologics across preclinical to late-stage development, collaborating with upstream, analytical, and formulation teams.

The role emphasizes chromatography, UF/DF, filtration, and viral clearance, with opportunities to drive process robustness and tech transfer to manufacturing. A strong experimental design approach is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years in biopharmaceuticals, or Master’s with 6+ years, or PhD with 0–2 years.
Deep knowledge of protein purification principles and practical execution including chromatography and filtration techniques.
Ability to independently design scientifically rigorous experiments and interpret complex datasets.
Experience with AKTA programming and result evaluation.

Responsibilities

Designs, executes, and interprets downstream process development studies for clinical and commercial programs.
Lead chromatography, UF/DF, depth filtration, viral inactivation, and viral filtration efforts.
Apply experimental design to develop robust, scalable processes.
Analyze data, identify trends and risks, and translate results into clear conclusions.
Author development documents, reports, and presentations for teams and stakeholders.
Collaborate with manufacturing and other technical functions to support tech transfer and scale-up.
