Job summary

Fisher Industries seeks a DOT Inspection Technician to perform comprehensive inspections across multiple locations. The role involves extensive travel to ensure vehicles and equipment meet federal and state safety regulations, with day or night shifts, overtime, and weekend work possible.

Key duties include on-site inspections and minor repairs for trucks, trailers, and portable crushing equipment, safety testing, and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or automotive/mechanical certification preferred.
• CDL is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Prior experience with DOT inspections or vehicle maintenance is desirable.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of vehicle systems.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple assignments.
• Willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays and varied schedules.
• Good communication skills and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough DOT inspections and perform necessary onsite repairs on commercial vehicles.
• Perform safety assessments, brake tests, electrical lighting tests, and tire inspections.
• Document inspection findings accurately and complete reports and forms.
• Maintain inspection equipment and ensure tools are calibrated and in good condition.
• Stay updated on DOT regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
• Travel extensively to various locations, often on short notice.
