Job summary

Fisher Industries is seeking a DOT Inspection Technician to perform comprehensive inspections and repairs of commercial vehicles across multiple locations. This role requires extensive travel to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, with possible day or night shifts and weekend work.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with DOT inspections, and the ability to work independently in diverse environments, including varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or automotive certification preferred.
• CDL is preferred.
• Valid driver''s license with a clean driving record.
• Prior experience with DOT inspections or vehicle maintenance is highly desirable.
• Strong mechanical and repair aptitude and understanding of vehicle systems.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple assignments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct DOT inspections/repairs of commercial vehicles, in compliance with regulations.
• Perform safety assessments, brake tests, emissions checks, and tire inspections.
• Inspect, identify, and repair discrepancies as needed.
• Document inspection findings and complete required reports.
• Identify safety issues and communicate findings to fleet managers and drivers.
• Coordinate travel schedules and routes to cover assigned regions.
• Maintain inspection equipment and ensure calibration of tools.
• Stay updated on DOT regulations and best practices.
• Provide guidance and training on safety procedures and compliance.
• Travel extensively, including short notice and overnight stays.
