Job summary

ADAMS AND ASSOCIATES INC seeks a Senior Residential Advisor at the Miami Job Corps Center in Miami Gardens, FL. The role leads the Residential Living team, guiding staff, supervising dormitory operations, and supporting student personal and professional development.

Responsibilities include coordinating the shift, maintaining safe living conditions, training staff, record-keeping, coordinating activities, and communicating with families as appropriate.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of Job Corps or related program experience.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Ability to effectively supervise, mentor, and interact with young adults.
• Advanced degree or additional education.
• Valid in-State Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate the activities of Residential Advisors during the assigned shift.
• Supervise dormitory conditions and make appropriate decisions and recommendations to maintain a safe and productive residential environment.
• Assist with the training, development, and evaluation of Residential Living staff.
• Perform Residential Advisor duties as necessary to ensure student safety, accountability, and appropriate behavior.
• Complete administrative responsibilities involving student passes, leaves, evaluations, progress reports, emergencies, terminations, and other residential matters.
• Maintain accurate student records and ensure information is entered into the Center information system in a timely manner.
• Coordinate dormitory activities, including entertainment, unit competitions, social activities, and other student engagement opportunities.
• Conduct dormitory inspections and identify facility maintenance and safety needs.
• Direct dormitory patrols and daily cleanup activities.
• Monitor supplies and requisition items necessary to support dormitory operations and student safety.
• Identify students who may need additional support and coordinate visits with counselors.
• Communicate with students’ families, when appropriate, to help resolve concerns and support student well‑being.
• Participate in and conduct orientation activities and social skills training as assigned.
• Provide positive and professional customer service to students, staff, families, and other Center customers.
• Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy.
• Model and promote Career Success Standards, mentor students, recognize positive behaviors, and provide appropriate interventions when concerns arise.
• Work overtime when directed and perform other duties as assigned.
