The Lodge at Torrey Pines, part of Evans Hotels, is seeking a Doorman to warmly welcome guests and assist with luggage, directions, and amenities throughout a guest’s stay. This full-time position pays hourly and requires a professional, friendly demeanor and the ability to handle busy, guest-facing situations.

Located in La Jolla, the Lodge offers pristine surroundings and access to the Torrey Pines Golf Course. Join a team that emphasizes guest satisfaction and community involvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–12 months of relevant experience/training (or 1 year if no formal background).
• Availability to work weekends and holidays.
• Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests with a warm, friendly, professional demeanor.
• Assist guests with luggage during arrival and departure with bell staff.
• Promote hotel amenities and services to guests to support revenue.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure guest service standards are met.
• Provide directions and information about the local area to guests.

The Doorman(“Portero”) welcomes our guests with a warm friendly smile and provides courteous, professional assistance to arriving and departing guests. Enthusiastically inform our guests of all amenities, features, and equipment available in the room and services available throughout the hotel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Conveys a favorable image of the organization by projecting a positive, professional appearance and demeanor to our guests.
• Maintains a positive relationship with our guests throughout their visit by providing warm and attentive service.
• Coordinates luggage assistance for our guests during their arrival and departure with the bell staff.
• Contributes to the financial growth of the company by enthusiastically promoting the available amenities and facilities of our hotel.
• Facilitates and expedites guest’s requests while working with other departments to ensure standards of guest services are met or exceeded.
• Ensures transportation is readily available for our guests.
• Coordinates traffic flow through the Porte Cochère with the valet department.
• Politely answers guest’s questions and provides our guests with directions and information on the local area.
• Provide a safe and secure environment for both our guests and colleagues by knowing and assisting in safety and emergency procedures.
• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 3-12 months of relevant experience and/or training. If no educational background, at least 1 year.
• A combination of experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for either requirement.
• Previous similar position in a hotel, or similar business entity preferred.
• Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.
• Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.
• Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 50 lbs.
