Job summary

ASSA ABLOY is seeking a Specification Writer in the Western US (California preferred) to prepare technical door and hardware specification documents for commercial buildings, using Openings Studio to boost workflow.

You will collaborate with Architectural Sales Representatives to deliver on-time project deliverables, design electrified access control solutions, and support submittal reviews.

Qualifications

• College/University degree in architectural design, engineering, construction science/management, or related field.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of industry-related experience with openings as a commercial locksmith, door frames/hardware installer, contractor’s license for installation, CHD project manager with school, healthcare, or institutional facilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools; CRM tools experience.
• Working knowledge of industry-related software is a plus.
• Ability to read, understand specifications and facility standards.

Responsibilities

• Create, engineer, and produce door and hardware specifications for all types of commercial building applications — schools, hospitals, offices, multifamily housing, entertainment, hospitality, and more.
• Recommend door and hardware solutions to meet design requirements for security, aesthetics, sustainability, and accessibility.
• Design electrified access control products and software systems for door openings.
• Collaborate with Architectural Sales Representatives to foster a positive customer experience and deliver on-time project deliverables.
• Assist with project submittal reviews and substitution approval processes to ensure specifications are held in the bid process.
• Utilize Salesforce.com as a customer relationship, project tracking and time management tool.
