ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions is seeking a Specification Writer for Western US, with focus on preparing technical door and hardware specifications for commercial buildings. You will work with architects and sales teams to craft code compliant, secure, and functional door opening solutions.

The role involves designing electrified access control products and coordinating with architectural sales reps to meet project deadlines, while leveraging Salesforce and Openings Studio to streamline workflows.

Qualifications

• College/university degree preferred; high school diploma acceptable with commensurate experience.
• 2–3 years of openings, commercial locksmithing, door hardware installation, or CHD project management in healthcare/education/institutional facilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
• Experience using CRM tools for sales activity reporting.
• Working knowledge of industry-related software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create and produce door and hardware specifications for commercial buildings (schools, hospitals, offices, multifamily, etc.).
• Recommend door hardware solutions meeting security, aesthetics, sustainability and accessibility requirements.
• Design electrified access control products and software systems for door openings.
• Collaborate with Architectural Sales reps to ensure great customer experience and on-time deliverables.
• Assist with submittal reviews and substitution approvals during the bid process.
• Use Salesforce.com for customer relationships, project tracking and time management.

What you will be doing:

Specification Writers have an integral role working with a committed team of specialists who are focused on supporting many of the top architectural firms in the country. The Sales Representative, Specification will be responsible for preparing technical door and hardware specification documents and acting as a trusted and knowledgeable resource to design professionals on innovative, functional, and code compliant door opening applications. They will have the power of Openings Studio to enhance workflow productivity and project management skills.

Key areas you will contribute to the role include:

• Creating, engineering, and producing door and hardware specifications for all types of commercial building applications - schools, hospitals, offices, multifamily housing, entertainment, hospitality, and more.
• Recommending door and hardware solutions to meet the design requirements for security, aesthetics, sustainability, and accessibility.
• Designing electrified access control product and software systems for door openings.
• Working in tandem with our Architectural Sales Representatives to foster a positive customer experience and deliver on time project deliverables.
• Assisting with project submittal reviews and substitution approval processes to ensure specifications are held in the bid process.
• Utilizing Salesforce.com as a customer relationship, project tracking and time management tool.

Education and/or experience:

• Your background includes a College/University degree (preference for specialization in related curricula such as: architectural design/engineering, construction science/management, or similar), or have work experience commensurate with, minimum high school/GED diploma.
• Minimum of 2 – 3 years of industry-related experience with openings as a commercial locksmith, door frames/hardware installer, contractor’s license for installation, CHD project manager with school, healthcare, or institutional facilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
• Utilization and maintenance of CRM tools for sales and activity reporting.
• Working knowledge of industry-related software is a plus.

The wage range for this role is $90K - $120K and considers a broad scope of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions. Pay within each range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, to primary work job-related knowledge, skills, experience, training licensure and certifications, business requirements, geographic location and other business and organizational needs. This salary range is a reasonable estimate for this position at the time of posting. ASSA ABLOY conducts regular review of compensation ranges and therefore reserves the right to alter this range at any given time.
