Job summary

Harbin Lumber Company, Inc. is seeking a Door & Window Technician to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and adjust door and window assemblies for contractors and homeowners.

You will act as a technical resource, reporting to the General Manager and coordinating with Outside Sales, Inside Sales, and department heads to ensure quality work. You will develop specialized knowledge of Harbin’s door/window products, installation guidelines, and repair methods, while maintaining accurate service

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands‑on experience in door & window service or related construction.
• Active driver's license with a clean MVR.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Strong math and reading skills; ability to follow detailed instructions and document service work.
• Effective communication with contractors, homeowners, and internal staff.

Responsibilities

• Field service & diagnostics: respond to inquiries and repair components.
• Develop product knowledge and provide on-site guidance on doors/windows.
• Collaborate with sales and location staff to resolve post-installation issues.
• Track tools, inventory, and assist training junior technicians to perform repairs safely.
• Maintain safety and report hazards per OSHA standards.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled, quality-driven Door & Window Technician to join our team. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will serve as a primary technical resource in the field, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and adjusting door and window assemblies for professional building contractors and homeowners.

As a key representative of Harbin Lumber, you will embody our Mission Statement and Values by building positive working relationships with clients, Outside Sales, Inside Sales staff, and department heads.

Key Responsibilities

• Field Service & Technical Diagnostics: Promptly respond to customer inquiries; schedule and execute field service calls to repair operating components, replace sashes, swap glass on doors/windows (installed and uninstalled), fix balance operating systems, and repair screens.
• Product Expertise: Develop specialized knowledge in Harbin Lumber’s full door and window product lines, installation guidelines, and repair methods. Maintain product information materials for customer review on job sites.
• Team Collaboration: Communicate continuously with sales staff, managers, and location personnel to resolve post-installation issues and streamline job completion.
• Operational Efficiency & Mentorship: Follow proper field procedures, track tool/equipment maintenance, monitor inventory needs with department heads, and assist in training junior technicians to perform repairs safely and correctly.
• Driver & Job Site Safety: Strictly adhere to company safety policies and OSHA standards. Maintain a clean, orderly work area and report hazards immediately to the General Manager.

Job Qualifications

• Experience: 2+ years of hands‑on experience in door & window service, residential remodeling, framing, or general construction.
• License & Driving Record: Active driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required. Willingness to operate company vehicles equipped with safety monitoring systems (GPS and safety cameras).
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Technical & Organizational Skills: Solid math and reading skills; ability to follow detailed technical instructions, complete service documentation, and maintain organized job records.
• Communication: Professional, neat appearance with strong communication skills to interact effectively with contractors, homeowners, and internal managers.
• Physical & Environmental Demands: Comfort working in both indoor and outdoor job site environments in all weather conditions. Ability to occasionally perform heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs) as well as climb, balance, and crawl during inspections and installs.
