Job summary

Participatory Budgeting Project seeks a Development Manager to lead institutional fundraising and individual giving, turning ideas into compelling funding proposals while managing a portfolio of funder relationships.

The role reports to one of PBP’s Co-Executive Directors and is based in New York City or Oakland. It focuses on grants, research, donor campaigns, and collaboration across staff to reach fundraising goals.

Qualifications

• At least three years of fundraising experience with increasing responsibility.
• Proven success raising over $1 million in funding per year.
• Excellent writing and editing skills.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork, with diverse groups.
• English proficiency and ability to receive feedback constructively.
• Flexible to adapt to evolving organizational needs.
• Experience with donor databases and fundraising systems optional.

Responsibilities

• Identify and research funding prospects across government, private and corporate foundations.
• Cultivate relationships with institutional funders and prospects through outreach and events.
• Draft grant applications and reports for foundations, corporations, and government.
• Coordinate with program staff to submit reports and funding requirements.
• Maintain grant calendars and support fundraising campaigns and training.
• Develop and manage donor communication and giving plans.
