Job summary

Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia is seeking a retail associate at our Chesapeake, VA location. The role focuses on processing donations, maintaining store appearance, and aiding customers and staff on the sales floor.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent), no prior experience is necessary, and a criminal background check will be conducted. Evening and weekend availability is needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; combination of education and work experience may be considered.
• No previous experience required.
• Criminal background check is required to be eligible for the position.

Responsibilities

• Inspect donations and raw material for quality to determine marketability as outlined in the Retail Operations Manual.
• Sort raw material and categorize for store use, salvage, or trash.
• Tag donated items according to Goodwill’s rotation system and prepare for sale on the floor.
• Hang and arrange sorted goods for placement on the retail sales floor according to productivity standards.
• Produce the required number of items daily according to Goodwill’s minimum standards.
• Adhere to uniform dress code standards and maintain a positive, energetic attitude.
• Communicate effectively with customers, peers and management; work as a team in a fast-paced environment.
