Job summary

Goodwill Central Texas in Austin, TX is seeking a Material Handler I to perform warehouse, recycling and material handling duties in support of Distribution Center operations. This role safely processes donations and merchandise while maintaining productivity, quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities include sorting donations, stacking and palletizing merchandise, and safely operating tippers, balers, and compactors.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous warehouse, recycling, or distribution experience preferred.
• Ability to obtain internal equipment certifications within required timeframes.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to meet production and quality expectations.
• Strong attendance and reliability.
• Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs and standing/walking in outdoor/warehouse areas.

Responsibilities

• Sort donations and merchandise into designated commodity streams.
• Process, stack, palletize, and prepare merchandise for storage, shipment, or sale.
• Safely operate tippers, trash compactors, and vertical balers.
• Load tippers, balers, and compactors safely and efficiently.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Inspect equipment prior to use and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Follow all safety policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Accurately report accidents, incidents, hazards, or damaged equipment.
• Work collaboratively with leadership and peers to support daily production goals.
• Maintain a professional image when interacting with customers, donors, and team members.
