Job summary

YWCA Oklahoma City seeks Domestic Violence Shelter Advocates for daytime and overtime shifts. This full-time role requires strong listening, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills. The position operates 24/7 shelter coverage with overnight and weekend possibilities.

Associate’s degree is preferred; experience in domestic violence advocacy is a plus. Full-time benefits include health insurance, paid vacation and retirement.

Qualifications

• Strong listening, verbal and written communication are required.
• Organizational skills and the ability to think independently are essential.
• Associate’s degree preferred; relevant DV advocacy experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Answer 24-hour crisis hotlines for DV, SA, and shelter lines.
• Assist survivors with safety planning and intake processes.
• Maintain shelter supplies and monitor security and access to the premises.
• Conduct shelter walk-throughs and document client data and safety plans.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and coordinate with supervisor on needs.
