Job summary

Pet Paradise seeks a Canine Behavior Specialist to identify desired behaviors and develop training plans tailored to each dog's needs and the expectations of pet parents. You will use practical animal behavior knowledge and training techniques to teach and reinforce skills across locations.

You will train and certify staff, travel to Pet Paradise sites up to 20% of the time, consult on behavioral concerns, and help families understand training progress and pricing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years industry-related experience or training.
• Pet Trainer Certification required.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of travel across resort locations/regions.
• Advanced knowledge of dog training techniques and animal behavior.
• Strong communication, dog handling and problem-solving skills.
• Able to handle a variety of dogs safely.
• Ability to pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Consult with customers on behavioral concerns and training needs.
• Develop suitable training plans addressing problem areas such as aggression or anxiety.
• Teach dogs to obey basic commands using tailored techniques.
• Educate pet parents on how to maintain learned behaviors.
• Examine progress and provide regular updates to pet parents.
• Promote and offer dog training programs to clients.
• Answer questions regarding training, behavioral issues, and pricing.
• Travel to Pet Paradise locations to train staff.
• Contact customers to schedule training appointments and verify bookings.
