Qualifications

• Active KentuckyPE license is required.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• DOE experience required, with familiarity of DOE facilities.
• Experience in industrial/chemical/nuclear processing or other regulated environments.
• Ability to support task-based assignments ranging from weeks to months.
• Willing to provide Kentucky PE license details for proposals.
• Willingness to travel to Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant for meetings.
• US citizenship is required.
• Preferred: ASME B31.3 Process Piping knowledge.
• Preferred: piping and pump systems experience in relevant environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering support for DOE facility modification projects, focusing on piping, pumps, equipment and related mechanical systems.
• Develop and review mechanical specifications, calculations, engineering evaluations, statements of work, design drawings, test plans, and technical design documentation.
• Support mechanical piping runs to new facilities and repair or replacement of obsolete components and equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and provide mechanical input for design, installation, construction, testing, and start-up activities.
• Apply applicable design codes, standards, site procedures, engineering design control requirements, and assigned quality levels.
• Coordinate with project managers, design engineering management, discipline leads, client representatives, and technical staff.
• Support work planning, technical input, milestone deliverables, engineering documentation, and task-specific design activities.
• Comply with site access, safety, quality assurance, security, radiological control, and worker safety and health requirements.
