Job summary

Bowler Pons Solutions Consultants, LLC seeks a Systems Administrator to support a DoD customer’s mission-critical IT infrastructure. Responsibilities include administering Windows Server environments, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, and virtualization platforms within a DoD setting, with a focus on security, upgrades, and modernization.

The role requires hands-on expertise, proactive troubleshooting, and effective communication with government stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field; 4–8 years of relevant systems administration/engineering experience.
• 4+ years of experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments (2012 R2, 2016, 2019).
• Experience planning and executing Windows Server upgrades, migrations, and modernization.
• Experience managing Microsoft server infrastructure in a DoD enterprise environment.
• Strong host‑based security, patch management, and configuration management knowledge.
• Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and domain administration.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware and/or Hyper‑V) and VM deployment.
• PowerShell and command‑line automation for Windows systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide host-based systems administration and engineering for a DoD customer.
• Administer and secure Windows servers, virtualization platforms, and endpoint systems.
• Manage Microsoft server infrastructure across multiple solution areas.
• Perform system hardening, patch management, and security compliance (STIGs).
• Conduct OS upgrades, migrations, and technology refreshes with minimal downtime.
• Administer Active Directory domains, GPOs, and service accounts.
• Install and troubleshoot VMware and/or Hyper‑V environments.
• Use PowerShell and CLI tools for diagnostics and remediation.
• Monitor health, capacity, availability, and security posture; preempt issues.
• Develop technical documentation and operational records per DoD requirements.
